OnePlus, the popular smartphone manufacturer, has yet to officially announce its first foldable phone. However, a video posted on Instagram by Anushka Sharma, an Indian movie star, shows her holding the rumored OnePlus Open foldable phone. The video reveals the OnePlus logo underneath the rear camera circle, and Anushka can be seen opening the phone to reveal a larger internal display.
The OnePlus Open is expected to take design inspiration from Oppo’s upcoming book-style foldable phone. Since both OnePlus and Oppo are part of China’s BBK Electronics and have merged their research and development teams, similarities in design and specifications are expected. The OnePlus Open is anticipated to feature a 7.82-inch internal display with a resolution of 2268 x 2240, as well as a 6.31-inch external display with a 2484 x 1116 resolution. Furthermore, the phone may have a powerful camera setup, including a 50MP primary camera, a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and a 32MP telephoto camera with a periscope lens. The model showcased by Anushka Sharma is called Voyage Black, and another color option called Emerald Eclipse is also expected. Performance-wise, the OnePlus Open is likely to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 application processor, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. It is anticipated that the phone will run on Android 13 and be powered by a 4800mAh battery supporting 67W fast charging.
OnePlus has a history of creating buzz around their upcoming devices by placing them in the hands of celebrities. Interestingly, Anushka Sharma’s husband, Virat Kohli, is a brand ambassador for another BBK Electronics company, Vivo. There is speculation that the OnePlus Open may be unveiled later this month, but no official announcement has been made yet.
