The film “Star Trek: Section 31” is scheduled to premiere as a direct-to-streaming release on January 24th on Paramount Plus. This announcement was made during a “Star Trek” panel at the New York Comic Con. The movie will feature Michelle Yeoh reprising her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou, a character from “Star Trek: Discovery,” who will employ her skills as a covert space spy.
Previously, Emperor Georgiou, an alternate dimension’s version of Captain Georgiou from the first season of “Discovery,” was transported back in time by the Guardian of Forever. Before this, she had become a member of Section 31, a secretive organization within the “Star Trek” universe that often highlights the darker aspects of the Federation.
Initially announced as a television series in 2019, the project was later reintroduced as a film. It will explore Georgiou’s role as a Section 31 operative as she confronts her past. Alongside Yeoh, the movie stars Sam Richardson, Sven Ruygrok, Omari Hardwick, Robert Kazinsky, and Miku Martineau, who portrays a young Philippa Georgiou. The film will be available for streaming to Paramount Plus subscribers wherever the service is offered, starting January 24th.
