Apple is reportedly gearing up for a significant design change as the iPhone approaches its 20th anniversary. According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple is preparing a major overhaul for the iPhone 19 series, which is expected to be launched in 2027. This revamp will include a foldable iPhone and an iPhone 19 Pro that will incorporate more glass elements.
As current reports suggest, not much more is known about the upcoming designs beyond the persistent rumors concerning the development of a foldable iPhone. These rumors have recently gained more traction. Gurman also mentioned that the anticipated iPhone 17, set to be released in the current year, indicates a sleeker design with more glass. The iPhone 17 “Air,” set to debut, is rumored to match the current models in screen size but will be two millimeters thinner, although offering similar battery life. There will be compromises, however, as it is expected to feature only one 48MP rear-facing camera and an A19 chip, instead of the more advanced A19 Pro chip.
Looking forward, the iPhone 17 Pro, expected to be released in September 2025, is rumored to include a 48MP telephoto lens, an A19 Pro chip, and a revamped camera bump design.
In addition to the upcoming products, Apple has its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) to prepare for, along with a reported significant redesign of iOS 19. Apple will also unveil macOS 16, iPadOS 19, tvOS 19, watchOS 12, and VisionOS 3 on June 9.
