Adult Swim has yet to specify the release date for the eighth season of Rick and Morty. However, promising news emerged from the New York Comic Con panel for the popular animated sci-fi series: the show will continue beyond its 10th season, with seasons 11 and 12 confirmed. Co-creator Dan Harmon announced at the convention that this extension means the series will run until at least 2029. The panel, which included the show’s cast, also expressed hopes that the series will last for "100 years," referencing a well-known quote from the character Rick.
It has been revealed that season eight will debut sometime in 2025, with Adult Swim providing an intriguing preview in the form of an animatic. In this sneak peek, characters Rick and Morty, voiced by Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden, encounter a cryo-ship in deep space, setting off a chain of events characterized by curiosity, greed—particularly Rick’s—and chaotic consequences. Other main cast members include Chris Parnell as Jerry, Sarah Chalke as Beth, and Spencer Grammer as Summer.
In a statement highlighted by Deadline, Dan Harmon and executive producer Scott Marder expressed their enthusiasm for the continuation of Rick and Morty. Harmon emphasized the endless possibilities for the series, stating, "Nobody wants a universe without Rick and Morty. Fortunately, the list of places to go remains infinite." Marder added his pride in having contributed to the series since its fourth season, expressing his excitement about the prospect of extending the series beyond the tenth season, reiterating, “Rick and Morty—a hundred years—forever!”
