The series Agatha All Along concluded this week, primarily focusing on characters Agatha, Billy, and Rio, but a significant role was played by Sasheer Zamata’s character, Jen Kale, a potions expert. Jen is reluctantly drawn into the antihero’s coven as they journey on the Witches Road, which, if successful, promises to fulfill everyone’s deepest desires. For Jen, this means regaining powers she lost a century ago.

In an interview with Collider, Zamata detailed Jen’s journey to reclaim her powers, highlighting the dynamic between Jen and Agatha, which is largely rooted in morality. Jen is described as a “righteous person” who values knowledge and helping others. Despite Agatha’s similar situation, Jen’s inherent desire to do good creates a disconnect between them, according to Zamata. "It’s kind of a personality mismatch more than something happened between them," Zamata explained, noting that Jen’s helpful nature might be off-putting to Agatha, who is less inclined to assist others.

Jen’s quest for power is central to her character arc, and by the end of Agatha All Along, she has achieved this goal and remains alive. Zamata praised Kathryn Hahn and director Gandja Monteiro for crafting the scene where Jen regains her powers, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to depict such a pivotal moment. “To be able to finally get your power after 100 years feels like a lot. It feels like you’re rejoicing, but you’re also so sad because you haven’t [had it], like getting a friend back,” she remarked.

In the comics, Jen eventually becomes the Witch Woman and is related to the original Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze. Regarding a potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Zamata expressed uncertainty about the future but shared her enthusiasm for potentially exploring more of Jen’s story. She conveyed a desire for Jen to find a new coven or rededicate herself to healing, expressing a deep fondness for the character. She also indicated her openness to exploring diverse roles, whether related to action or continuing her work in the horror genre as a "final girl."

The series Agatha All Along is now fully available on Disney+.
