With the Tokyo Game Show occurring this week, major publishers have scheduled showcases in the coming days. Sony is taking the lead by hosting its next State of Play on September 24 at 6PM ET.
The company intends to highlight over 20 PS5 and PS VR2 games during the stream, which is expected to exceed 30 minutes in length. The showcase will be available for viewing on YouTube and Twitch in both English and Japanese.
It is anticipated that Sony will announce a release date for Horizon Lego Adventures, the final first-party game listed on its schedule for the remainder of the year. Additionally, there will likely be further insights into the remakes of Until Dawn and Silent Hill 2, both of which are slated for release in early October. There is also speculation about potential remasters of Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone, which Sony might choose to confirm. Other upcoming titles that could be featured include Death Stranding 2: On The Beach and Marvel’s Wolverine.
While significant hardware announcements are considered unlikely, given the forthcoming release of the PS5 Pro, Sony might take this opportunity to remind viewers about the PS1-style 30th anniversary editions of the PS5 consoles and controllers, and possibly reveal their pricing.
Furthermore, September 26 marks The Last of Us Day. If there are no updates about the franchise during the State of Play, Sony is expected to make related announcements then. This could include a release date for the PC version of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, or at minimum, an update on season two of the HBO adaptation.
