Much of the promotional focus for “Daredevil: Born Again” has highlighted the return of Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, along with the addition of Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. However, the series is also set to incorporate some characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe who were not part of the original Netflix lineup, including Jack Duquesne.
Tony Dalton, who portrayed the character in “Hawkeye,” is confirmed to appear in two episodes of “Born Again” during its first season, as reported by Variety. In “Hawkeye,” Jack Duquesne was initially introduced as Kate Bishop’s stepfather-to-be and was suspected to be a criminal adversary, but the plot later revealed that Kate’s mother, Eleanor, was the one aligned with Fisk, with Jack merely being a quirky character. The last appearance of Duquesne showcased him using his sword skills against the Tracksuit Mafia, and showing interest in a LARPing activity suggested by a friend of Clint and Kate.
The absence of Jack Duquesne in a potential second season of “Hawkeye” has been addressed by Marvel’s TV head, Brad Winterbaum. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Winterbaum stated that while additional seasons for several limited series are under consideration, the studio is awaiting the “right idea” before proceeding. Marvel’s TV division is actively seeking opportunities to reintroduce characters like Agatha and the Hawkeyes, with an ongoing commitment to expanding TV productions beyond limited series. Winterbaum mentioned that future series could be designed for multiple seasons and regular annual releases.
Should a second season of “Hawkeye” materialize, Jack Duquesne may return, contingent upon alignment with the storyline. Meanwhile, viewers can expect to see him in “Daredevil: Born Again,” which is slated to premiere its first season on March 4th.
