In a new adaptation of the 1941 horror classic, director Leigh Whannell reimagines The Wolf Man in the latest film titled Wolf Man. Known for directing the 2020 hit The Invisible Man, Whannell brings a fresh perspective to this chilling reboot.
Christopher Abbott takes on the role of the titular Wolf Man. Before his unsettling transformation, he portrays Blake, a family man from San Francisco. Blake finds himself in a peculiar situation after inheriting his childhood home in rural Oregon following his father’s mysterious disappearance and presumed death. Accompanied by his wife, Charlotte, played by Julia Garner, and his daughter, Ginger, portrayed by Matilda Firth, Blake visits the property. It is here that they face an attack from an unknown creature or possibly a monster, forcing the family to barricade themselves inside the house as the threat closes in.
However, the family’s troubles do not end there. Blake’s injuries from the encounter with the beast lead to an infection that begins to trigger a horrific transformation. The film’s trailer showcases the beginning stages of his grisly metamorphosis, alongside an intense scene involving a truck-based jump scare.
The Wolf Man is set to premiere in theaters on January 17.
