X is enabling select creators to upload videos in 4K resolution to enhance engagement and reduce user migration to platforms like YouTube or Vimeo. This feature will soon be available to all premium subscribers, as announced by X’s engineering account.
Previously, paying subscribers could upload 1080p videos up to 8GB in size, with a maximum length of approximately three hours, according to X’s support page. With the upcoming support for 4K uploads, the platform may adjust the size limit for subscribers.
Since Elon Musk acquired the company, X has encouraged users to post more video content by progressively increasing the upload limit for subscribers. The platform introduced a dedicated feed for vertical videos, complete with a shortcut on the home page of its mobile apps earlier this year, aiming to leverage the uncertainty surrounding TikTok’s ban in the U.S.
