The Call of Duty community has been critical of the Gunsmith system in previous titles, including Vanguard and Modern Warfare 2. Players have complained about the time it takes to unlock attachments for weapons and the “mind-boggling” system that forces the use of unnecessary weapons. In response, Sledgehammer Games has announced enhancements to the Gunsmith system in Modern Warfare 3. Attachments such as grips, barrels, magazines, and stocks will no longer require players to use a specific weapon after they’ve been unlocked for another one. Additionally, the ADS speed penalty when equipping a 1x zoom optic has been removed. Despite these changes, some players still want a return to the classic pick 10 system, while others are praising the update as a step in the right direction. The new Gunsmith system will be further tested in the upcoming Modern Warfare 3 beta.

In response to community feedback, Sledgehammer Games has announced improvements to the Gunsmith system in Modern Warfare 3. One of the major changes is that attachments such as grips, barrels, magazines, and stocks will no longer be tied to specific weapons. Once these attachments have been unlocked for one weapon, they will be available for use on any other weapon. This addresses the issue of players having to unlock attachments multiple times for different weapons. Additionally, the ADS speed penalty when using a 1x zoom optic has been removed, which was a source of frustration for players in Modern Warfare 2.

Despite these updates, some players are still not satisfied with the Gunsmith system. They argue for a return to the classic pick 10 system, which allowed players to choose from a variety of options for their loadout. This would simplify the attachment system and eliminate the need for players to strategize and experiment with different combinations. However, there are also players who view the enhancements as a step in the right direction and appreciate that the developers are listening to feedback. The true test of the new Gunsmith system will come with the launch of the Modern Warfare 3 beta on October 6, where players will have the opportunity to test and provide further feedback on the changes.
