A hit-and-run accident in San Francisco involving a driverless Cruise car has left a pedestrian with serious injuries. The incident occurred at the intersection of Fifth and Market streets when the driverless vehicle and another sedan were traveling side-by-side. The sedan hit the pedestrian, propelling her into the path of the Cruise car, which ran her over. The autonomous vehicle braked aggressively to minimize the impact. The driver of the sedan fled the scene, leaving the victim pinned beneath the Cruise vehicle until rescuers were able to free her using rescue tools.
