Tesla launches updated Model Y in China, maintains competitive starting price.

Tesla’s China arm recently released an updated version of the Model Y, which includes design and performance enhancements without a price increase. The new Model Y follows the introduction of the revamped “Highland” Model 3 in China last month. According to Tesla’s Chinese website, the updated Model Y has a faster acceleration time of 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds. It also features new wheels and an ambient LED lighting strip in the dash, similar to the refreshed Model 3.

The starting price of the updated Model Y remains unchanged at 263,900 yuan (about $37,000). Tesla also offers a long-range version priced at 299,900 yuan (about $42,000) and a high-performance version priced at 349,900 yuan (about $49,000). However, Tesla has not yet announced the updated Model Y for the US market. The images shared on Tesla’s WeChat post showcase the updated dashboard, wheels, and other minor changes, while the overall design of the Model Y remains largely unchanged.

This release reflects Tesla’s commitment to continuously improving its electric vehicle lineup, catering to the Chinese market’s growing demand for sustainable transportation. By offering upgraded features while maintaining the same starting price, Tesla aims to appeal to a wider range of customers and further establish its presence in China’s competitive electric vehicle market.
