Colorado inmate Ronald Caillier escapes hospital after overpowering officers.

In a daring escape, a Colorado inmate managed to overpower two officers, flee a hospital, and steal a neighbor’s minivan while still handcuffed. Ronald Caillier, 38, made his break from the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center emergency room late at night, leaving authorities scrambling to track him down. The shackled inmate ran off after overpowering a deputy and a security officer, disappearing into the darkness of the night.

During his escape, Caillier spotted a white 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan that had been left unlocked with keys inside and a handgun beneath the driver’s seat. Carjacking the vehicle, he vanished into the La Junta neighborhood, evading capture and leaving law enforcement on high alert. Caillier, who was facing charges of burglary and assault, remains at large, prompting officials to caution the public that he should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.

The deputy and security guard involved in the escape received medical treatment for injuries sustained during the incident but have since been released. Caillier, last seen wearing black and white striped pants and an orange t-shirt, had his hands cuffed in front of his body at the time of the escape. The stolen minivan he fled in reportedly showed signs of damage, further adding to the urgency of law enforcement’s search efforts.
