Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is accompanying the body of her close friend, the late Senator Dianne Feinstein, on a plane from the president’s military fleet to San Francisco. Feinstein, who passed away after a period of declining health, shared a long friendship with Pelosi. Pelosi expressed her honor in serving alongside Feinstein and emphasized their deep connection as colleagues, neighbors, and friends. Feinstein was a prominent figure in California politics and broke barriers throughout her career, playing a significant role in shaping Capitol Hill’s history.

Pelosi’s support for Feinstein extended to their families, as her daughter Nancy Corinne Prowda assisted Feinstein during her recovery from shingles. Last Friday, when Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer paid tribute to Feinstein, Pelosi’s daughter Katherine was present in the Senate gallery. Pelosi highlighted Feinstein’s extraordinary career and the inspiration it will continue to provide for future generations of women in public service. Both Pelosi and Feinstein have left their mark as trailblazers, with Feinstein holding the record as the longest-serving female US senator and Pelosi becoming the first and, thus far, only woman to serve as Speaker of the US House of Representatives.
