Former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson believes that the Republican Party has reached a pivotal moment where they must take a stand against former President Trump ahead of the 2024 election. In an interview on MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show,” Hutchinson expressed her disappointment in Republican lawmakers who continue to support Trump despite ongoing controversies and legal challenges. She argued that Trump’s actions on January 6th nearly destroyed democracy in one day and that he poses a serious danger to the party if they do not split with him. Hutchinson’s comments come as Trump and his allies face multiple indictments, including charges related to his efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

Hutchinson, who formerly worked as an aide to White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, testified before the select committee investigating the January 6th attacks at the Capitol. She was the first member of the Trump administration to do so. Her appearance on Rachel Maddow’s show was centered around her new book, “Enough,” which delves into her experiences working under the Trump administration and her decision to testify before Congress. The book is set to be published on Tuesday, providing further insight into Hutchinson’s perspective on Trump and the Republican Party.

In this critical moment for the Republican Party, Hutchinson urges Republican politicians to take a stand and distance themselves from Trump. She questions why lawmakers continue to support him despite the detrimental impact he has had on democracy. With Trump facing multiple indictments and expressing intent to run for president again, Hutchinson warns of the serious danger that lies ahead if the party does not break ties with him. Her book, due to be released soon, will provide a deeper exploration of her experiences and shed more light on her concerns about Trump and the future of the Republican Party.
