According to a source familiar with the development of the iPhone 16, Apple’s next smartphones will feature a new button called the “Capture” button. Positioned below the Power button, it is speculated that this button will be related to the camera functionality of the iPhone 16. Unlike mechanical buttons, the Capture button will be capacitive and feature a haptic engine for physical feedback. Additionally, it is said to have force sensor functionality to detect variations in pressure. This rumor aligns with previous reports suggesting that capacitive buttons were initially planned for the iPhone 15 Pro but delayed to the iPhone 16.

Although these rumors should be taken with caution as the iPhone 16’s release is still about a year away, there is excitement about potential improvements in brightness and display size. Despite the lack of details regarding the purpose of the Capture button, its inclusion in every model of the iPhone 16 lineup suggests it will play a significant role in enhancing the camera experience. With its capacitive and force-sensing capabilities, users can expect a touch experience similar to the iPhone SE’s Home button. As more information becomes available, anticipation grows for the next generation of Apple’s flagship smartphones.
