Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is set to launch its annual Connect conference with a keynote address tomorrow. The focus of the event is expected to be on the Meta Quest 3, the latest version of the virtual reality headset. While other companies have shifted their focus to corporate training, Meta remains heavily invested in the consumer market, particularly in gaming. Despite virtual and augmented reality not meeting expectations, Meta has a significant advantage in the industry. CEO Mark Zuckerberg previously teased the Meta Quest 3 on Instagram, highlighting its features such as high-resolution color mixed reality and a more comfortable design. The headset will also be priced at $499, significantly lower than competitors like Magic Leap and Apple.

Meta’s annual Connect conference is set to begin with a keynote address, where the Meta Quest 3 is expected to be the main attraction. Unlike other companies that have shifted their focus to corporate training, Meta continues to prioritize the consumer market, especially in gaming. Although virtual and augmented reality have not yet lived up to expectations, Meta has a strong foothold in the industry, comparable only to Vive and PlayStation VR. CEO Mark Zuckerberg previously gave a sneak peek of the Meta Quest 3 on Instagram, boasting about its features, including high-resolution color mixed reality and enhanced comfort. The price point for the headset has also been revealed at $499, significantly undercutting competitors like Magic Leap and Apple’s Vision Pro.

The Meta Connect conference will be livestreamed on Facebook, and TechCrunch will cover the latest news from the event. Meta aims to make the Meta Quest 3 more accessible to the mainstream market with its affordable price tag. Priced well below competitors such as Magic Leap and Apple, this move is expected to attract more consumers to the Meta Quest 3. Attention will also be focused on the potential advancements in graphics performance and display resolution. Despite the challenges faced by the virtual and augmented reality industry, Meta’s commitment to consumer-focused applications positions it as a leading player in the market.
