Wellmind Health unveils new digital solution for managing arthritis pain – TechToday

Digital treatments platform Wellmind Health has launched Pathway through Arthritis, a unique arthritis pain management program, in collaboration with UK arthritis charity Versus Arthritis. The web-based program aims to empower individuals with different forms of arthritis to self-manage their pain and reduce the impact of the condition on their daily lives. Arthritis affects over 10 million people in the UK, and the cost to society is significant, with people suffering from arthritis being less likely to be employed and a third of those with rheumatoid arthritis quitting work within five years of diagnosis. The Pathway through Arthritis program offers participants a new approach to pain management through techniques such as exercise, lifestyle changes, and cognitive approaches led by a team of experts.

The program has been designed to address the growing healthcare burden posed by arthritis, as musculoskeletal conditions account for one in seven GP consultations and the annual NHS spend related to arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions in England is around £5 billion. By offering innovative technology and tools that support arthritis management, the program aims to improve individuals’ quality of life and reduce the pressure on healthcare services.

Health outcomes are measured using clinically recognised self-reporting assessments, and participants who have trialled the program have reported improvements in health, anxiety, and depression. Wellmind Health has a track record of providing drug-free digital therapies for better mental health and pain management, with its programs Be Mindful and Pathway through Pain already being deployed across NHS services. The collaboration between Wellmind Health and Versus Arthritis aims to offer individuals with arthritis the necessary support to self-manage their condition and improve their overall well-being.
